“To a some young people it’s meaningless... they left and became bitter with the lack of offer. (...). The material goods were searched for in others areas (...) when they move, they create another life elsewhere, other roots and these ones are meaningless. (...) the only root that remains is family (...) and when this family eventually dies, nothing brings them (to Mesão Frio). There are still a few that try to preserve (the houses) as a matter of pride in their roots and manage to recover some but others end up in ruins because there is no financial capability to recover them.” Adalberto Sampaio (Chairman of the Parish Council of Cidadelhe - Mesão Frio) The seemingly empty spaces are filled with memories of other times, memories that were searched for next to those who inhabited them when they were filled with life. By filling the void with light and sound, it’s intended to transpose the time barrier and reflect on the past, the present and the relationship between them.
